William John Czmiel

July 9, 1950 — August 2, 2016

William John Czmiel, age 66, of Wind Ridge, PA, left the loving arms of his wife and son to enter the eternal peace of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Bill was born on July 9, 1950 in Canonsburg, PA.

He attended North Franklin schools and in 1968 graduated from Trinity High School. He played football for Trinity and was known by his fellow players and his coaches as the "Horse" of the team. He chose to enter the Air Force during the Vietnam War in 1969. He served 2 tours in Vietnam and served stateside in Wyoming, Colorado, Alabama, and Ohio. He was active duty for 8 1/2 years. He joined the Pa. Army National Guard, 1-104th helicopter division based out of the Washington area. He was a civilian employee during the week and a weekend soldier on the weekends.He completed many schools, both military and civilian.He was highly decorated and loved the military very much. He retired from the National Guard in 2002 attaining the rank of SSgt. E-6.

Bill owned a flooring business and he and his wife worked it until 2006. He and his wife owned and operated Scottys Ice Cream for 3 years and owned and operated Czmiels Cafe in Graysville for 2 years. He drove school bus for West Greene School District. Up until his illness, he drove the DAV van for the Greene County Veterans as a volunteer and loved each and every moment.

He adored his son, Christopher, and was a coach for his little league baseball team and an umpire for Wind Ridge Baseball. He and his son belonged to Civil Air Patrol based out of Washington, Pa. Bill was a coach for Frazier-Simplex Rifle Club and loved working with the kids. He loved doing woodworking.

Bill loved hunting and fishing and would take trips to Wyoming and Erie with his son. He was an avid oldies fan and enjoyed going to oldie dances with his wife.He was a member of the American Legion where he held the offices of commander, adjudant, and treasurer. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and the DAV.

Bill loved Jesus and accepted him as his Savior. He joined Living Stone Community Church in 2014 where he served as trustee; and was baptized in March of 2015. On April 3, 1992, Bill married the love of his life, Eva Marie Wise, who survives. In 1997, he welcomed his son, Christopher William into his life.

Surviving in addition to his adoring wife and beloved son are his wonderful "daughters" Rebecca (George) Ralis and Meredith (Randy) Rush and the two best friends in all the world Denny and Cindy Malone, who must admit he was the chicken foot champion. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, his Mother, Mary, brother Kurt, sister Kim, and children, Mike and Rhonda.

He was preceded in death by father Bob.

Interment for Bill was private as per his request and a Celebration of Life will be held at the Living Stone Community Church, 265 North Avenue, Washington, PA. 15301 on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 11:00 am.
