Wayne Bissett

Wayne L. Bissett, 85, of Hundred, W. Va., and formerly of Greene Co. Pa. died at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, W.Va.He was born June 13, 1926 in New Freeport (Nettle Hill), Pa. a son of the late George Wayne and Pearl Mae Stipes Bissett and had been a resident of the Hundred, W.Va. area all his married life.Mr. Bissett was a 1944 graduate of Waynesburg High School.He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a seaman first class in the U.S. Navy and was awarded the American Area Victory Medal. Mr. Bissett was a member of the American Legion Post 18 in Cameron, W.Va.He was employed for several years with Columbia Gas Corp. as a heavy equipment operator prior to retiring in 1984.Mr. Bissett was married to the late Margaret A. Church who died in December of 1999.Surviving is a son, Gerald, husband of Mary Bissett of New Martinsville, W.Va.; a granddaughter, Ashley Bissett; a sister, Leone Grimes of Washington; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents and wife is a brother who died in infancy.
