Stanley D. Hanko, age 81, of Waynesburg, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024, at Washington Hospital.
Born September 17, 1942, son of the late Stephen Andrew and Ursula (Drockton) Hanko.
Stanley had been a Greene County resident his whole life. He graduated from Carmichaels High School in 1962. Stanley was a Catholic by faith. He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. Stanley married Karen Sue Webster on February 16, 1974, and they were happily married for 50 years. He was employed with Emerald Mine as a Motorman for 30 years until his retirement in 2007. Stanley was a member of the U.M.W.A District 2. He enjoyed golf and hunting.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Christina (Alan) Devenney, of Sun City West, AZ, James (Cathy) Webster, of Orient, OH, Ryan (Irish) Hanko, of Newark, OH, and Alex (Elise) Hanko, of Loveland, CO; Nine grandchildren, Kara Jean-Baptiste, Saraina Wise, Cheyenne, Shelby, Kianna, Kyla, Brynn, Weston and Emma Hanko; siblings, Stephen D. (Elizabeth) Hanko, of Fort Myers, Fl., Candice (Bill) Frazier, of New Castle, and Debra Lynn (Mike) Butler, of Elwood.
Besides his parents, Stanley is preceded in death by his sister Ursula Rosza and brother Paul R. Hanko.
