Shirl W. Jacobs “Skip”, age 82, of Nemacolin, passed away May 15, 2026, in his home.
Born July 7, 1943, in Bristoria, son of the late Cecil and Jeneva (White) Jacobs.
Skip graduated from West Greene High School in 1962. He served in the United States Army. Skip coached T-Ball for Wind Ridge, where he loved all his little players. He worked at Alltel until his retirement in 2007. Skip married Sandra K. Chapman in 1968 and raised two sons. He also had a companion later in life, Judi Gibson, who passed in 2022. Skip was a member of the Nemacolin Fire Company and a lifetime member of Harvey’s Aleppo Grange. He enjoyed talking to family and friends on the phone for hours. In his early years he enjoyed farming, hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by two sons, Ronald W. (Karen Areford) Jacobs and Donald D. (Angela) Jacobs, both of Graysville; eight grandchildren, Melissa Robinson, Justin (Kayleigh Varner) Jacobs, Jaime Jacobs, Jordan Jacobs, Sierra Pikula, Daniel Jacobs, Warren Jacobs, and Ceira Jacobs; two great grandchildren, Warren Lee Donahue and Allison Kern; three siblings, Marilyn (Tom) Pietras, of Warren, OH, Judy (Daryll) McMasters, of Southington, OH, and Francis (Bonnie) Jacobs, of Rutan
In addition to his parents and companion, skip was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Kristie Marie and Nathaniel Cecil Clay; six siblings, twin sister, Shirley, at birth, Cecil Eugene, Glen, John, and Merrill Jacobs, and Mary Lou Hughes.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, May 22, 2026, from 11-1 PM at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. PO Box 434 Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181, where a funeral will be held directly after with Pastor Tom Slingo, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery with full military honors conducted by the United States Army and the Greene County Honor Guard.
