Sheryl L. Hamilton

Leonard Sheryl Hamilton, 73, of Graysville, (Morris Twp.), Pa. died unexpectedly, Tuesday, December 14, 2021 at 5:55 am in his home.

He was born June 16, 1948 in Waynesburg, Pa., a son of the late A.W. (Pone) and Inez Berry Hamilton and had been a resident of Morris Twp. since 1970.

Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Concord Presbyterian Church and was a 1966 graduate of West Greene High School.

He served with the U.S. Army Reserve Unit in Washington, Pa. for 6 years during the Viet Nam War.

Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 F&AM, and a member of the UMWA.

He was last employed as a heavy equipment operator for over 35 years at the former Emerald Mine prior to retirement.

Mr. Hamilton truly enjoyed listening to Doo Wop music, taking his late father’s 1960 Willy’s Jeep to car shows, traveling to the Amish country with his family and hosting the Hamilton Family Reunions.

He also enjoyed the time he had with his grandchildren, playing cinch and Old Maid, and attending their football games and wrestling matches.

On September 26, 1969 he married Linda L. Miller who survives.

Also surviving are a son, Adam (Kim) Hamilton of Fairmont, W.Va. and a daughter, Amy (Devon) Beaver of South Park, Pa.; five grandchildren, Daynon Foster, Kolbie, Kyra and Ira Hamilton, and Rowan Beaver; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are, four brothers, Carl, Donald, Kenneth and Lynn Hamilton; four sisters, Lena Chaney, Evelyn Price, Garnet Smouse and Alberta Wise who died November 25, 2021.

Mr. Hamilton was the last of his immediate family.

Friends and family will be received from 11:00 am and until time of services at 1:00 pm, Thursday, December 16, 2021 in the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, Rogersville, Pa., with Pastor Russ Baird officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park cemetery. A masonic service will be conducted at 11:30am by Waynesburg Masonic Lodge 153 in the funeral home.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
