Sherwin W. Iams, 82, of Rogersville, Pa. and formerly of Pittsburgh and Waynesburg, died at 11:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 in the Ewing Manor-West Personal Care Home, Rogersville after being seriously ill since October 2011.He was born, March 27, 1930 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Harry Sherwin and Lillian Matilda Egler Iams and had resided in the Pittsburgh area most of his life.Mr. Iams had resided in Waynesburg from 1985 until moving to Rogersville in January 2012.He was a graduate of the Pittsburgh Public School System and the University of Pittsburgh.Mr. Iams was a veteran of the Korean War where he served as a sargeant with the U.S. Marine Corps.He was a former employee of Chevron in Pittsburgh for over 35 years prior to retiring in 1985.Mr. Iams was a former member of the Waynesburg Moose Lodge and was a member of the Waynesburg Sportsman's Club and the Waynesburg Senior Citizens at the time of his death.Mr. Iams enjoyed reading financial magazines, rifle shooting and visiting with friends on the "courthouse wall" and the time spent with his family.Surviving are several cousins.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Southern Care Hospice, 201 Johnson Rd., Building 1, Suite 101, Houston, Pa. 15342.
