Saundra K. (Saunny) Hanko, 65, of Sycamore, (Center Twp.) Pa. died unexpectedly Monday, December 15, 2014 from injuries received in an automobile accident.
She was born July 2, 1949 in Waynesburg, Pa. a daughter of the late Kenneth Michael and Thelma Irene Stewart Conklin and had resided in the Morris Twp. (Greene County) and Center Twp. areas all her life.
Mrs. Hanko formerly attended the Throckmorton United Methodist Church and was 1967 graduate of West Greene High School.
She was an avid animal lover and protector, a supporter of the A.S.P.C.A. and the Greene County Humane Society and a vocal supporter of all causes against cruelty to animals, and also enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and watching T.V. mysteries and detective stories and her time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Hanko was formerly employed by J.C. Penny in Washington, BFS and Greeneway Shirt Factory in Waynesburg, a receptionist for Dr.s Malepati, Salari and Mannam, and was an aide at the former Wilson Personal Care Home in Rogersville.
On July 7, 1975 she married John William Hanko, Jr. who survives.
Also surviving are a daughter, Dawn Pell of Waynesburg; a son, Josh, husband of Jennifer Hanko of Pittsburgh; three grandchildren, Kaley and Aidan Pell, and Isabella Hanko; a sister, Sarah (Sally) Conklin Moore of Center Twp.; a brother, Kenneth (Chip), husband of Lisa Conklin of Vestaburg;
Deceased in addition to her parents is a sister, Linda Conklin.
At the request of the deceased and her family all services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Humane Society of Greene County, 183 Jefferson Rd., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370 or Catnip Acres, 578 E. High St., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
