Sara Lee Fordyce Johnson, 80, of Washington, beloved mother and grandmother, died following a long illness on December 7, 2004 in Donnell House in Washington, Pa. where she had resided since November 23, 2004.She was born September 4, 1924 in Claysville, Pa. a daughter of the late Denny and Martha Ferrell Fordyce.Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Richhill High School in the Class of 1942 and of Waynesburg College in 1944.On August 25, 1946, at Liberty Methodist Church, Washington, she married David O. Johnson who preceded her in death on August 30, 1998.Mrs. Johnson was a former employee of McGuffey School District where she served as an elementary school secretary in Claysville and Joe Walker schools for 25 years prior to retiring in 1985. She was a great favorite of scores of children during her career.Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church; Martha V. Paul Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star; Pennsylvania School Employees Retirement Systems; and a member and officer of the National Pike Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Three Rivers Chapter, Colonial Dames, Seventeenth Century.She enjoyed her family, her many dear friends, including special friend, Dale Campbell of Washington, Pa., attending Wild Things games, traveling, gardening, sewing, and reading.Surviving are her children: Nancy Lee, wife of Raymond Racunas of Washington, David L., husband of Colleen McAnallen Johnson and Richard D., husband of Jan McLaurin Johnson, both of Raleigh, North Carolina; one brother, Denny, husband of Lillian Bozin Fordyce of Akron, Ohio, and one sister, Betty Hixon of Atchison, Kansas; and seven grandchildren: Jennifer, wife of Dan Asti, Christen, wife of Jason Myers, Stacie, Adam, Lauren, and Seth Johnson and Michael McLaurin.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the David O. and Sara F. Johnson Family Education Fund through the Washington County Community Foundation, 77 South Main Street, Washington, Pa. 15301; to the Claysville United Presbyterian Church, PO Box 496, Claysville, Pa. 15323; or The Hospice Care of Washington Hospital, in c/o The Washington Hospital Foundation 155 Wilson Ave, Washington, Pa. 15301, or to a charity of personal choice.
