Roger Paul Stewart, 66, of Loris, S. Carolina and formerly of Greene Co. Pa. died Sunday, November 29, 2009 in the Loris (S. Carolina) Hospital.He was born January 17, 1943 in Center Twp. (Oak Forest), Greene Co. Pa. a son of the late Paul Carl and Ruth Rogers Stewart.Mr. Stewart was a member of the former Oak Forest United Methodist Church.He was a 1962 graduate of West Greene High School where he was a member of the undefeated football team under coach Dale Kennedy, also participated in basketball and was a member of the track team under coach Gooderham that set a new Greene Co. track record.Mr. Stewart lived briefly in Chicago, Il., prior to relocating to the Washington D.C. area where he was employed as a computer analyst with the Department of the Army.He was a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served with the U.S. Army stationed with the Department of Defense at the Pentagon. Following his discharge he continued his employment with the U.S. Government in the Department of Interior, retiring in 1992 with 30 years total service.Mr. Stewart resided in North Myrtle Beach, S. Carolina for 17 years and a member of a local golf team.Surviving are a son, Robin Anthony Stewart of Arlington, Va.; a grandson, Magnus Ian Stewart; his former wife, Susan Yates Stewart of Arlington, Va.; a brother, Dennis Duane, husband of Marie Stewart of Springfield, Va.; three sisters, Lois Jean, wife of Carl Headlee and Janet Ruth Stewart, both of Waynesburg and Marilyn Joyce Kriebel of Finleyville, Pa.; one niece; three nephews; four great nieces; four great nephews; one aunt; one uncle; several cousins.A memorial service was held in Loris, S. Carolina, and a memorial service will be held locally at a later date. Local arrangements are under the direction of the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa.
