Robert L. Minton, Sr., 82, of Graysville, Pa. died at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 8, 2010 in the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa. after being in failing health for the past several years.He was born May 9, 1928 in Gray Twp., Greene Co. Pa. a son of the late William Hamilton and Catherine Jane Meighen Minton.Mr. Minton had resided in Washington and the Wind Ridge areas for several years prior to returning to the house where he was born in Gray Twp. in 1969.He was a member and former trustee of the Unity Presbyterian Church in Graysville and a 1946 graduate of Richhill Twp. High School.Mr. Minton had been a member of the Masonic Lodge 153 FAM of Waynesburg since 1972 and the Coudersport Consistory.He enjoyed local garden tractor pulls and was an avid bowler with the Waynesburg Senior Citizen bowing league as long as his health permitted.Mr. Minton was the owner and operator of the former Minton Esso Station in Wind Ridge from 1953 until selling out in 1958 and was last employed as a tool clerk with the former Star Dynamics Corp. in Washington for 37 years prior to retiring in 1988.On December 11, 1952 he married Wahnetta Mae Clark who survives.Also surviving is a daughter, Bonnie, wife of Francis Jacobs of Center Twp. (Rutan); a daughter-in-law, Eileen Beasom of Middletown, Pa.; three grandchildren, Timothy Jacobs, Katherine and Jena Minton; two brothers, Edward, husband of Pat Minton and Ralph Franklin, husband of Evelyn Minton both of Washington; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents is a son, Robert Lynn Minton, Jr. who died in 1997; two sisters, Dorothy Thompson and Madge Ferrell; two brothers, James William and John Gordon Minton.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Hospice Care of the Washington Hospital, 155 Wilson Ave., Washington, Pa. 15301 or the Unity Presbyterian Church, c/o Mary Lou Hughes, 311 Dividing Ridge, Graysville, Pa. 15337.
