Robert L. Deist

Robert L. Deist, 78, of Waynesburg, PA formerly of Boswell, PA passed away on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 4:21AM, at the Waynesburg Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Waynesburg, PA.

He was born July 12, 1942, in Stoystown, PA, a son to the late Donald B. and Violet (Shaffer) Deist.

Robert was a 1961 graduate of North Star High School in Boswell, PA. He was in the US Army from July 10, 1961, to June 28, 1964. Robert was a Protestant/Lutheran.

He had worked for 23 years as an owner and operator with his father at the Boswell Hardware Store in Boswell, PA. Then retired as a Psych Aid at the Torrance State Hospital.

Robert married Donna F. (Scott) Deist on May 28, 2003, and were happily married for 18 years.

Surviving in addition to his wife is a daughter, Donna L. Deist of Kent, OH, and four sons; Richard Deist of Somerset, PA, John Deist of Somerset, PA, Paul Deist of Washington, PA, and Philip Deist of Johnstown, PA; three stepdaughters, Dana (Gary) Calvert of Waynesburg, PA, Jodie (Dan) Stoneking of Waynesburg, PA, and, Misty (John) Renner of Aleppo, PA; one stepson, Roy “Dude” (Jobie Fox) Bennington of Waynesburg, PA, three brothers, Nevin (Dianne) Deist of Somerset, PA, Don (Dolores) Deist of Stoystown, PA, and, Ronald (Helen) Deist of Hollsopple, PA; five sisters, Joanne Shroyer of Boswell, PA, Linda (Richard) Hollsopple of Hooversville, PA, Nancy (Will) Doll of Hollsopple, PA, Joyce (Edward) Thomas of Hollsopple, PA, and, Carol Sachs of Lancaster, PA. Several grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Services have been entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181. A graveside service will be held Saturday, July 10, 2021, at 1:30PM at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township with full Military Honors from the US Army and the Amvets Post # 103 Hopwood with Pastor David McEloy officiating.
