Richard "Dick" Wayne Lohr

Richard "Dick" Wayne Lohr, age 89, of Holbrook, PA, passed away at home on Saturday, January, 7, 2016 with his family by his side.

Born on August 1, 1927, in Waynesburg, PA, he is the son of the late Jess and Ruth (Yost) Lohr.

Richard graduated in 1945 from Aleppo High School. He served his country in the Army Air Corps from 1945-1947 and was a World War II veteran. Richard was employed for 40 years at Grinnell Fire Protection, Warrendale, PA, where he last held the position of Superintendent. He was a member of the Waynesburg American Legion Post #330. Richard enjoyed farming and his American Saddlebred horses. He also loved to go fishing and hunting with his son. Spending time with his family was always important to him.

He is survived by his son, Rick (Becky) Lohr, of Holbrook, PA; his grandchildren, Nathan (Jennifer) Lohr, Heather (James) Helsel and “D.J.” Richard (Katie) Lohr; great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Colleen Helsel and Remi Rose Lohr; and caregiver, Theresa Cumberledge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorthy Lohr and his daughter, Bonnie Jean Nice; brothers, Bert Lohr and Edwin Lohr; sister Betty McClellan.

Friends are welcome on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 4-9 P.M. at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. (724) 499-5181. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at 12:00 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Jarvis, officiating. Burial with full military honors to follow at Fairview Cemetery.
