Phyllis Hutchison Hamilton, age 95, passed away in her home on October 1, 2022.
She was born in West Finley, Washington County on October 31,1926, to the late W. Delbert and Mildred Grimes Hutchison.
She was raised on the family farm. Phyllis attended grade school in West Alexander and graduated from Claysville High School in 1945. She attended Nursing school and Muskingum College. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Claysville where she served as a Trustee. Phyllis was also a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau, founding member of the Washington County Agriculture Days and a past member of the Grange. On September 16, 1949, Phyllis married Robert Hamilton Jr. and they recently celebrated their 73rd anniversary. They owned and operated a successful dairy farm for 70 years where she especially enjoyed working with the calves. Other interests were swimming, horseback riding, playing golf, traveling and family gatherings.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by, her son, Robert Mark Hamilton (Sandra), grandchildren David R. Hamilton (Marissa), Andrea L. Hamilton, Keith M. Hamilton (Anna) and Justin L. Hamilton. She was blessed with two great granddaughters, Ruby and Jovie Hamilton, who gave her great joy in her last year.
In addition to her parents, Phyllis was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel H. Rush and June Socransky, a brother, Dean Hutchison, and a son, Andrew Lee Hamilton.
Friends and family will be received from 11 to 2 pm Saturday, October 8,2022 in the United Presbyterian Church of Claysville, 134 Wayne St. Claysville, Pa 15323, where a funeral service will be held directly after with Reverend Jerome Creach officiating. Burial will follow in the Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Washington, County.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the United Presbyterian Church of Claysville.
