Phillip “Phil” G. Burns, age 83, of Wind Ridge, passed away, Tuesday, May 6, 2025, at WeCare at Rolling Meadows, Waynesburg.

Born November 17, 1941, in Graysville, son of the late Allen and Anne (Whipkey) Burns.

Phil had been a resident of Wind Ridge his whole life. He was the owner of Burns Exxon in Wind Ridge for 40 years. He was a staple to the community, many times sacrificing his time to serve others. All the times he would open the store after hours to help strangers and friends alike in need. Phil would do anything for his family, neighbors, and community. After retiring in 2006, he worked for Behms Auction and did maintenance at the Jacktown Fairgrounds in the summer.

He enjoyed hunting and golfing. Phil particularly looked forward to the annual bear hunting trip with the family and friends. He was a member of Harmony Presbyterian Church in Wind Ridge and the Waynesburg Moose Lodge 461. Phil enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

He is survived by a son, Phillip “Ray” (Lisa) Burns, of Wind Ridge; a daughter, Kathy (Allen) Moore, of Goldsboro, NC., and a son, Chris (Sherri) Burns, of St. Clairsville, OH; he has four grandchildren, Desiree Burns, Natasha Burns, and Shawn (Jeannie) Burns, all of Wind Ridge, and Mandi Kelley, of Waynesburg; Phil was a PapPap to ten great grandchildren, Weston, Jimmy, Drayden, Jackson, Mason, Matthew, Colton, Logan, and Allie Rose; he has three brothers, Carl “Butch” Burns, of Graysville, Walter “Buck” (Amanda) Burns, of Rutan, and Alfred (Belinda) Burns, of Wind Ridge.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by, his great grandson, Tavion Terry; his brother, Richard “Dick” Burns, and a sister-in-law, Nancy Burns.

The family would like to thank the staff at WeCare at Waynesburg for the love they showed to Phil during his stay there and for taking such good care of him. He became very close to many staff, and they spoiled him frequently.

Friends and family will be received on Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 3-8 PM at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. PO Box 434 Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181. A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM in the funeral home, with Pastor Linda Shaw, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Richhill Twp.
