Margaret J. (Peg) Armstrong, 93, of Claysville, Pa. died Monday, May 19, 2014, at 1:35 a.m. in the Washington County Health Center, Chartiers Twp., after being seriously ill since February. She was born May 27, 1920 in Wheeling, W.Va. a daughter of the late Albert Wilhelm and Mabel Angela Spindler Schan and had been a resident of Claysville since 1947. Mrs. Armstrong was a 1938 graduate of Trinity High School and a 1960 graduate of the former Irenes Beauty Academy in Washington. She was a former member of the Claysville Civic Council, and was a former volunteer with the McGuffey High School athletic department, and an active volunteer with the Claysville community picnic and Claysville Fair. Mrs. Armstrong was formerly employed by several Washington department stores as a window dresser, and was the owner and operator of the former Pegs Beauty Shoppe in Claysville from 1960 until closing in 1992. In November of 1947 she married William Ellsworth Armstrong who died in 1978. Surviving is a daughter, Barbara (Mink) Bellotti of Florida; two grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband is a brother, William A. Schan. Friends will be received from 6 p.m. until time of services at 8 p.m., Thursday, May 22, 2014 in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa.
