Mae Marveunene Boster

March 29, 1930 — May 15, 2017

Mae Marveunene (Jones) Boster, age 87, peacefully passed away on May 15, 2017 surrounded by her daughters. She fought a long and courageous battle with cancer. She faced life with an ornery, spunky, feisty, noble attitude.

Mae was born March 29, 1930 in White County, Illinois to the late Earl and Eva Jones. She graduated from Norris City High School in 1948. Her husband Ben’s (Bob) job with Texas Eastern took them away from their family in Illinois to New Jersey, then eastern PA and finally to Greene County. The majority of her life was spent on the farm she and her husband owned in Holbrook.

Left to cherish her memories are daughters, Judy Gillogly (companion Paul Braddock) of Carmichaels, Bobbie Carasella (John) of Virginia Beach, Teresa Simms (Mike) of Waynesburg; six grandchildren, Andy Gillogly (Julie), Johnny and Matt Carasella, Amy Carasella Datoc (Mike), Christopher Simms (fiancé, Danielle) and Marcus Simms (Brittney); seven great-grandchildren, Justin, Devin, Bryant, and Ashlyn Gillogly; Macy Carasella; Dillon and Emma Datoc; one great-great-grandchild Caroline, sister Thedola Lacefield of St. Louis and sister-in-law, Nevella Jones of Ridgway, Ill and sister-in-law Joyce Jones.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ben R. Boster (1995), whom she married in 1949; her grandson, Brian Gillogly (2005); son-in-law, Bob Gillogly (2006); and close friend and companion, Sam Harvey (2014). She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ivan and Louis Jones and four sisters Wanda Greer (Wayne), Opal Hackerson, Freda Hewett (Lawrence), and Novella Healy (Carrol) all from Indiana and Illinois.

Mae enjoyed cooking, doing jigsaw puzzles, going to yard sales, playing bingo, and working in her flower beds on the farm in Holbrook.

Mae was fortunate to have many loving caregivers and friends. She received excellent care from the staff at Waynesburg Health Care and Rehab Center, the staff at Evergreen Assisted Living, and Dr. Patrick Kane (oncologist). Her church also gave the family the strength and support they needed the last few months.

Friends will be received on Thursday, May 18, 2017, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA, 15359. (724) 499-5181 A funeral service will be held on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Arnold Watts officiating. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery in Center Twp., PA.
