Mabel Shriver

Mabel Lee Shriver, 93, of Waynesburg, Pa. and formerly of Holmes Co., Pa. (Millersburg), died at 2:36 p.m. Monday, August 4, 2014 in the WVU Hospitals, Inc. (Ruby Memorial Hospital), Morgantown, W.Va. She was born January 4, 1921 in Aleppo Twp., Greene Co., Pa., a daughter of the late Benjamin Franklin and Minnie Elsie Simms King and had resided in Holmes Co., Pa. for 37 years prior to returning to Greene County in 1984. Mrs. Shriver was a member of the Millersburg Christian Church and attended the Waynesburg Christian Church. She was a 1938 graduate of the former Aleppo High School. Mrs. Shriver was formerly employed by DeHaas Nursing Home as a nurse's aide and Normans Bakery, both in Millersburg, Pa. On May 4, 1940 she married Oren Lester Shriver who died on March 19, 2003. Surviving are a daughter, Linda Shriver of Washington, Pa; a sister, Thelma Talpas of Carmichaels; and several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are a son, Robert Lee Shriver; a sister, Hazel Maxine King who died in infancy; and a brother, William King. At the request of the deceased there will be no public visitation or services. Private interment will be held in the Rosemont Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
