Mabel F. Miller, 99, of Waynesburg, Pa., and formerly of New Freeport, Pa. died on Sunday, November 9, 2025, in the home of her daughter, Jeanne Katruska.
She was born August 18, 1926 a daughter of the late Albert Charles and Ollie Celeste Weimer Hughes and had been a resident of Greene County all her life.
Mrs. Miller was a member of the Aleppo Brethren Church, and was the last surviving graduate of the former Aleppo High School, class of 1944, where she participated as a cheerleader, and she also was a graduate of the former Fairmont (WV) Business College.
She was a former employee at the Greene County Registrar and Recorder’s office from 1952 until 1954, and was last employed as a Nutrition Instructor for the Penn State University Extension Office from 1979 until retiring in 1992.
Mrs. Miller was the co-owner, with her late husband of the former Log Cabin Service Station in New Freeport for 13 years.
She enjoyed bowling, square dancing, baking all occasion and wedding cakes, and bingo, and was a member of the West Greene Senior Citizens.
Mrs. Miller loved her family, grandchildren, great and great great grandchildren. On January 5, 1946 she married Grant Lemoine Miller who died August 14, 2007.
Surviving are a daughter, Jeanne Katruska of Waynesburg, with whom she shared a home, and a son, Garrett (Sue) Miller of Center Twp; six grandchildren, Shelley (Charlie) Morris, Mark Miller, Joey (Rachelle) Katruska, Jeff Katruska, Josh (Amy) Katruska and Pamela Katruska; seven great grandchildren, Breanna (Phil) Judy, Caleb and Colby Morris, Dylan Miller, Jillian, Jacob and Joelle Katruska; three great-great grandchildren, Kase and Baylor Judy, and Micah Katruska; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are; six sisters,Mary Jane Hughes (who died in infancy), Alma Riggs, Evelyn Throckmorton, Dorothy Durbin, Hazel Stockdale and Mary Lou Hughes; two brothers, James and Harold (Pete) Hughes.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Family and friends will be received from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, November 12, 2025 at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, in Rogersville, Pa., where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Thursday, November 13, 2025 , with Pastor Brian Long officiating. Interment will follow in Centennial Cemetery, Aleppo Twp. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either, the West Greene Senior Citizens, the Greene County Humane Society or the Oak View Methodist Church.
