Lula H. Jones, 92, of Waynesburg, Pa. died Wednesday, December 17, 2014 in the Southwest Regional Medical Center, Waynesburg, Pa.
She was born November 9, 1922 in Monongalia County (Jakes Run), W.Va. a daughter of the late Jacob Wesley and Savannah Ann Tennant Tennant.
Mrs. Jones had resided in the Fairmont, W.Va. area most of her life prior to moving to Greene County where she had resided in the Rogersville and Waynesburg areas for the past 30 years.
She was a member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church and was a 1940 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School in Blacksville, W.Va.
Mrs. Jones was an expert sewer, enjoyed attending craft shows with her daughter and the time with her many friends and was known affectionately as Grandma Lu.
On April 23, 1947 she married Wilbur Denzil Jones who died October 25, 1958.
Surviving are a daughter, Linda Jane Jones with whom she shared a home; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are four sisters, Myrtle Olive Tennant who died in infancy, Gladys Mae Wells, Gracie Ellen Tennant and Gaily Myrle Walters; three brothers, Alpheus L., Lester E. and Kenneth Kyle John Tennant.
She was the last of her immediate family.
Friends will be received from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. where funeral and committal services will be held Monday, December 22, 2014 with Rev. Bruce Judy officiating. Private interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Fairmont, W.Va. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Rogersville United Methodist Church, PO Box 315, Rogersville, Pa. 15359.
