Lucretia "Lou" Kirby

Lucretia “Lou” Kirby, age 69, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV., after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born December 3, 1954, in Washington, daughter of the late William Henry and Clara (Russell) Poland.

Lou had been a Greene County resident most of her life. She graduated from West Greene High School in 1972. She was a former member of the Fairview United Methodist Church in Wind Ridge. Lou was a member of the Waynesburg Moose Lodge #461. She was most recently employed with Respi Center in Waynesburg as a Caregiver for approximately five years until she retired in 2017. Lou also worked as a bartender at the Colonial Inn in Waynesburg for many years. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends and watching the Steelers.

She is survived by her companion of many years, Sam Hamnett; two sons, Rev. Shane Kirby, of Rome, Italy and Travis (Chastity) Kirby, of Waynesburg; two grandchildren, Nate and Brynn Kirby; two siblings, Karl Henry (Florence) Poland, of Chandler, AZ and Alice (Harold) Hennen, of Waynesburg; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by, five siblings, Lawrence and Samuel Poland, Shirley Ann Adams, Joyce Davidson, and Beverly Haines.

Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, November 13, 2024, from 11-1 PM at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. PO Box 434 Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181, where a funeral service will be held directly after with Pastor Gary Crawford, officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery, Richhill Twp.
