Kirk Myron Lamay, 69, of Washington, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, November 3, 2024, in St. Clair Hospital.
He was born February 11, 1955, in Malone, NY, a son to the late Earl Charles and Erma Belle Humiston Lamay.
Kirk met the love of his life, Barbara Kay Livingood, in 1977 and they married on October 7, 1978. They had 2 children, Brandon Michael Lamay and Jennifer Carolyn Wright.
Kirk attended high school at Franklin Academy in Malone, NY graduating top of his class. He then attended Clarkson University in Pottsdam, NY where he earned a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He was then employed with Columbia Gas Transmission from 1977 through 2010 at which point he retired. He was an amazing civil engineer and surveyor and truly enjoyed what he did. During his employment, he was transferred to Jamestown, NY then to Charleston, WV and finally to Washington, PA where he remained. After his retirement he was a Principal Engineer for Wood Group Mustang and GAI Consultants.
Kirk loved music, movies, reading, all things trivia and riding bicycles. He never missed an event for his grandchildren, he was their number one supporter. He was Clerk of Sessions at the Concord Presbyterian Church and the Secretary for the Enon Cemetery. He was very proud to have been a contestant on the game show “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” even though he didn’t win. He loved traveling with his family, going on ski trips, and most recently a once in a lifetime cruise through Norway. One of his favorite fall events was getting together with his family and eating cabbage rolls and playing cribbage.
His impact was widespread, and he was adored by his grandchildren, nieces and nephews and will be missed by everyone.
The family sincerely appreciates Jim Albitz and the William Capp Construction Crew who made every effort to resuscitate Kirk on the Montour Trail.
Surviving is his wife, Barbara of Washington, his daughter Jennifer (Matthew) Wright of Washington and his beloved grandchildren Owen Michael and Madilyn Ranee Lamay and Dylan Thomas Wright, his sisters Paula (Lee) Wilson of Warsaw, NY and Debra (Dave) Homer of Corning, NY, several nieces and nephews and his dear friend Jim (Sue) Albitz.
