Karroll R. "Catfish" Miller, 86, of Springhill Twp. (Deep Valley), Pa. died at 1:55 a.m. Friday, March 11, 2011, in the Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa. after being in failing health since July.He was born November 13, 1924 in Springhill Twp. Greene Co. Pa. a son of the late Lloyd Park and Nelle Anderson Miller and has been a resident of Springhill Twp. all his life.Mr. Miller was a former employee of Penn D.O.T. and was last employed as a custodian by the West Greene School District for approximately 15 years prior to retiring in 1984,He was a veteran of World War II where he served as a private first class with the U.S. Army in Battery C, 501st CA Bn and was involved in the invasion of Saipan.Mr. Miller was a life member of the D.A.V. Post 123 in Waynesburg and a member of the American Legion Post 120 in Hundred, W.Va. and was a former Greene Co. Democratic committeeman.He enjoyed buying and selling automobiles, mowing his yard and playing pool.On June 19, 1956 he married E. Mardelle Debolt who survives.Also surviving are two daughters, Sharmon, wife of Bill Barnes of Waynesburg and Linda Lou Reed of Snowflake, AZ.; two grandchildren, Deanna Barnes and Stacy Alvarez; four great grandchildren, Vanessa, Alyssa, Joseph and Alexis Alvarez; a sister, Lillian Marling of New Freeport; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents are five brothers, Grant, Howard, Forrest (Snuffy), Kay and Ernest Miller, who died in Infancy; a niece, Jenny Lynn Marling and a nephew, Danny K. Miller.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association.
