Joyce E. Hopkins, 55, of Wayne Twp., Greene County, Pa. died at 6:45 a.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2015 in her home after battling a cancer related illness since July 29, 2013.
She was born August 5, 1959 in Waynesburg a daughter of Paul Maynard and Brenda Joyce Richmond Cole of Wayne Twp. and had resided in Wayne Twp. all her life.
Mrs. Hopkins was a member of the Pursley Baptist Church in Oak Forest where she was currently serving as the church clerk.
She was a former member of the Waynesburg Women of the Moose.
Mrs. Hopkins enjoyed flower gardening and doing different crafts.
She was a former employee of McDonalds Restaurant, the Greene County Tax Office, former magistrate John Watson, the former Ames Department Store, all in Waynesburg.
Mrs. Hopkins was also employed in food service with the former Waynesburg Central School District for over 20 years, prior to becoming the co-owner and President of Waynesburg Plumbing Supplies, Inc. in 2007.
On September 20, 1980 she married Daniel Curtis Hopkins who survives.
Also surviving in addition to her parents and husband are two sons, Jonathan, husband of Amy White Hopkins of Waynesburg and Trent, husband of Ashley Ross Hopkins of Aleppo; two grandchildren, Karsan and Gavin Hopkins; a brother, David, husband of Tracy Cole of Oak Forest; two sisters, Pamela, wife of Lindsay Kiger of Oak Forest and Paula, wife of Bruce Johnson, Sr. of Youngwood; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased are her maternal grandparents, Oscar Harold and Malinda Ann Kerr Richmond; paternal grandparents, Lawrence David and Helen Irene Watson Cole.
Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 4, 2015 with Lay Minister, Mark Pastoria officiating. Interment will follow in Pursley Cemetery, Wayne Twp. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society Relay for Life in memory of Joyce Hopkins.
