John Charles Watson

John Charles Watson, 80, of Waynesburg, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017, in his home.

He was born September 6, 1936, in Washington, a son of the late Ralph Roscoe and Agnes Laura Watters Watson.

Mr. Watson was a 1955 graduate of West Greene High School.

He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army and was a member of American Legion Post 330, Waynesburg.

Mr. Watson was a former employee of A&P grocery stores for 20 years. In 1998, he retired after serving for 24 years as a district justice in Greene County.

He was a member of Rogersville United Methodist Church and a former member of Holbrook Christian Church, where he participated in church choir.

Mr. Watson was also a member of West Greene School Board and an original member of Cornerstone Building Committee. He was a scout master in Rogersville, where he developed three Eagle Scouts, and a member of Graysville Knights of Pythias.

He was very talented and enjoyed playing piano, trumpet, trombone and drums. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Surviving are his wife, Sally Jean Butcher Rishell Watson of Waynesburg; a son, Brett L. (Debbie) Watson of Morgantown, W.Va.; four stepchildren, Doug (Verna) Rishell, David (Kelli) Rishell, Keith (Lisa) Rishell and Beth (Donnie) Lutes; two siblings, Marvin L. (Patty) Watson and Lou (Betty) Moore; three grandchildren, Amanda Kay Garet, Ryan Watson and Sean Watson; and several stepgrandchildren and stepgreat-grandchildren.

Deceased, in addition to his parents, is his first wife, Sarah Marie Martin Watson, who passed away in 2004.

Friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday in Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home LLC, 3275 West Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359, 724-499-5181, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 17, with the Rev. Bruce Judy officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in Rosemont Cemetery, Center Township.

The family suggests memorial donations be made to Rogersville United Methodist Church.
