He was born on October 7, 1927, in Washington County, the son of the late Raymond McGuier and Belva Loretta Dille McGuier Coffield.
Following his service in the U.S. Navy in World War II, Jim graduated from Claysville High School in 1947. It was at Claysville High School that he met his beloved wife, Ellen Lenore (Mounts) McGuier. They married on May 30, 1951.
Jim worked as a Vice President of Western Pennsylvania AgChoice Farm Credit from April, 1953 through December, 1988, which reflected his lifelong interest in farming and agricultural business.

Jim coached community baseball teams for his sons, and later he was an avid fan of his grandchildren’s baseball and softball teams throughout the years. He also enjoyed hunting, an activity that he shared with his friends, his sons, and his grandsons. He will be remembered forever as the centerpiece of his family, his church, and his community.
