James E. Parson

James E. Parson, 84, of Richhill Twp., Greene County, Pa. died unexpectedly, in his home, on Monday, December 22, 2025.

He was born January 2, 1941 on the family farm in Richhill Twp., Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Charles A. Parson, Sr. and Anna Blanche Cumpston Parson, and had resided in Greene County all his life, and was 1959 graduate of West Greene High School where he was a member of the football team.

Mr. Parson was a former member and Elder of both the Harmony Presbyterian Church in Wind Ridge and the Cornerstone Covenant Church in Jefferson and was a member of the Waynesburg First Assembly Church in Eastview at the time of his death.

He was a man strong in his faith, enjoyed family time, farm work, NASCAR, the Pittsburgh Steelers and spending winters in Florida.

Mr. Parson was employed as a gas well operator for the former Texas Eastern Gas Company for 29 years prior to retiring in 1996.

On November 1, 1968 he married Bonnie May Orndoff who survives.

Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Lisa (Scott) Johanson of Cranberry Twp., Stacy (Joe) Yeckel of DeLand, Florida, and Matthew (Teresa) Parson of Pittsburgh; a step-daughter, Kathy (Steve) Cummings of Charlotte, N.C.; a step-son, Mark (Janice) Grimes of Jefferson, Pa.; nine grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Morris of Wind Ridge, and Nelle Jones of Warren, Ohio; several nieces and nephews.

Deceased in addition to his parents are four brothers, Charles, Jr., John, Frank and William Parson; four sisters, Nora Caldwell, Doris Engle, Helen Riley and Aldene Tharp.

At the request of the family all services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026 from 12-4 PM at 4131 W. Roy Furman Hwy Waynesburg, PA 15370. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either, the American Heart Association, The American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association. All arrangements are under the direction of the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC in Rogeresville, Pa.
