James “Jim” Albert Whipkey, age 81, of Graysville, passed away, Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at WeCare at Rolling Meadows, Waynesburg.
Born April 18, 1944, in Waynesburg, son of the late John Warren and Pearl Deatta (Huffman) Whipkey.
Jim graduated from Waynesburg High School in 1962, where he was the president of the FFA, then went on to Pittsburgh School of Aeronautics to receive a certificate of completion in becoming a helicopter mechanic. He was a member of the NRA. Jim married Linda Jane Workman on July 09, 1964, and they were happily married for 60 years. He was employed as a service technician for Trader’s Plumbing and Heating for 42 years until he retired in 2010. Jim spoke often about being a Boy Scout when he was younger. He enjoyed hunting, Westerns, and loved gardening.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four sons, John Warren (Diane) Whipkey, of Blacksville, WV, Joe N. (Stacey) Whipkey, of Graysville, Charles David (Jennifer) Whipkey, of Spraggs, and James Michael (Lauren) Whipkey, of Graysville; eight grandchildren, Heather (Gennaro) Bonaventura, Cody (Katlyn) Whipkey, Tyler, Wesley, Abby, Johnny, Makenna, and Madeleine Whipkey; three great grandchildren, Bailey Whipkey, Colt Bonaventura, and Kayce Whipkey; his brother, Terry L. (Dianna) Whipkey, of Waynesburg.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Chambers.
