James H. Tharp, 73, of Uniontown, Pa. and formerly of Richhill Twp. (Ryerson Station), Greene County, Pa. died at 8:45 p.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2015 in the Cherry Tree Nursing Center, Uniontown, after dealing with Down Syndrome related health issues all his life.
He was born July 15, 1942 in Center Twp., Greene County, Pa., a son of the late Perry Lee and Priscilla Jane (Jennie) Phillips Tharp, and had resided in Waynesburg from 1989 until moving to Uniontown in August.
Mr. Tharp attended the former South Wheeling Baptist Church at Ryerson Station.
He enjoyed coloring books, old westerns, soap operas, red convertibles, and especially enjoyed Santa Claus and the Christmas season.
Surviving are a brother, Perry Arthur Tharp of Monaca; several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to his parents are four brothers, Samuel, Thomas, Ralph, and S. Wayne Tharp; three sisters, Olive Galloway, Gertrude King and Jean Whitlatch.
At the request of the family there will be no public visitation. Family and friends are invited to attend a graveside service to be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 26, 2015 in Rosemont Cemetery, Rogersville, Pa. with Pastor Frank Nemeth officiating. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the National Association for Down Syndrome, 1460 Renaissance Drive, Suite #405, Park Ridge, IL. 60068.
