Hugh (Bo) Danley, Jr., 81, of Washington, Pa. died at 11:40 a.m. Saturday, December 7, 2013 in his home, surrounded by his loving family, of complications associated with Alzheimer's disease. He had been cared for by his wife for the past three years with the help of aide Deanie Patterson of Amedisys Hospice.He was born March 7, 1932 in South Franklin Twp., Washington County, Pa. a son of the late Hugh Alton and Gertrude Hestle Ealy Danley, and had resided in the Washington County area all his life.Mr. Danley was a member and former treasurer of the Union Valley United Methodist Church.He was a 1950 graduate of Trinity High School where he was a member of the baseball team and attended the former Marshall College, and pitched a no-hitter while playing baseball in the Dunn Station League and enjoyed watching all sports.Mr. Danley was a veteran of the Korean War serving as a sergeant with the U.S. Army National Guard in Company H, 110th infantry, 28th division in Ulam, Germany.He was a member of the American Legion Post 175 in Washington.Mr. Danley passionately and faithfully mowed his lawn on his favored Gravely tractor and was even presented a "most beautiful lawn" award by the Martha Washington Garden Club., he also enjoyed telling jokes, was proud of his immaculately kept automobiles, enjoyed riding his motorcycle, taking bus tours, walking and meeting friends for breakfast.He was last employed as a lab technician and manager at the former Drakenfeld/Ferro plant in Washington for 39 years prior to retiring in 1994.On June 19, 1954 he married Rheita Cleo Beabout who survives.Also surviving are a daughter, Susan, wife of David Baker of Marriottsville, Md.; two grandchildren, Kyle and Keaton Baker; a sister, Darlene, wife of Paul Clark of Washington.Deceased in addition to his parents are a brother, Gerald Danley, who died in infancy and a sister, Eileen Kennedy.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Amedisys Home Health, 275 Meadowlands Blvd., Washington, Pa. 15301, Alzheimer's Association, 1850 York Rd., Suite D, Timonium, Md. 21093 or Union Valley U.M. Church, 180 Valley Church Rd., Graysville, Pa. 15337. Graveside military rites will be accorded by representatives of the U.S. Army and the Claysville American Legion Post 639.
