Hershel M. Rutan, Jr.

Hershel M. Rutan, Jr., age 70, of Waynesburg, passed away, Wednesday, April 3, 2024, in his home with his family by his side.

Born March 9, 1954, in Waynesburg, son of the late Hershel M. and Eva (Temple) Rutan, Sr.

Hershel had been a Greene County resident his whole life. He was formerly employed with Hoys Concrete as a truck driver. Hershel served in the United States Army during the Vietnam war. He enjoyed roasting chickens, shooting pool, working in the hay fields, riding his tractor, being outside, spending time with family, and watching the Steelers. Hershel was a jokester.

He is survived by five children, Becca Rutan, of Crucible, Sherry (Jim) Eddy, of Carmichaels, Hershel “Cupcake” Rutan, III, of Waynesburg, Amanda (Bobby Courtney) Rutan, of Canton, OH, and Chasity (Mike) Dulaney, of Waynesburg; 11 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; six siblings, Barb Harrington, of Waynesburg, Loretta (Scott) Brewer, of Spraggs, Kim Morris, Melody Ealy, and Robin Horton, all of Waynesburg, and John (Deb) Rutan, of Mt. Morris; his friend and caregiver, Becky Collins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two children, Jason and Samantha Rutan and one brother, Robert Rutan.

Friends and family will be received on Monday, April 8, 2024, from 4-7 PM at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181, where a funeral service will be held directly after with Pastor Sam Crawford, officiating.
