Born September 11, 1929, in Monumental, WV, she is the daughter of the late John F. and Mildred (Mason) Sharp.

Even though the family was not well to do, her mother found the means to get her tap dance lessons and performed around the state. She traveled with her first husband all over the US for his work as a heavy equipment operator. In later years she and her second husband enjoyed many bus trips while his health allowed. She always said she had "Two of the best.” (meaning her husbands) She had a few very special friends that will miss talking with her, Elva Dee Wilson, whom she has known her entire life and still talked to weekly. Josephine Hart, her best friend and former classmate, her beloved sister, Ruby, and friend John whom she talked to often and enjoyed having coffee with. Helen was a member of the First Nazarene Church in Waynesburg, PA, where she helped organize Bible Studies. Helen enjoyed her word searches. She kept a journal and calendar that she wrote in everyday of her life.
