Harold Ely

Harold Ely, age 81, of Rogersville, PA, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 3, 2016.

Born on February 5, 1935 in Rogersville, PA, he is the son of the late Raymond and Anna (Morris) Ely.

Harold graduated in 1952 from Center Township High School. He served in the U.S. Army Reserves from 1957-1963. Harold was a lifelong dairy and beef cattle farmer. He also drove for many years delivering bulk milk to different milk plants in Pittsburgh from various local dairy farmers. Harold was an avid Pittsburgh Sports fan, he enjoyed watching and following the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He also enjoyed spending time with his nieces and nephews and keeping up with their lives. The family would like to thank Harold’s caregivers and the staff at Amedisys Hospice for their excellent care and love they extended to him and the family.

He is survived by his siblings, Sara (Marion) Titus, of Pasadena, MD, Bonnie (Ed) Wroten, of Glen Burnie, MD, Richard (Sue) Ely, of Rogersville, PA, Sue (Garrett) Miller, of Rogersville, PA, Nancy (Stan Meriage) Ely, of Bridgeville, PA; 14 nieces and nephews, many great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jean Titus and sister, Mary Lee Ely, who passed away in infancy.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, December 7, 2016, from 11:00 A.M.-1:00 P.M. with a Funeral Service to follow at 1:00 P.M. at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA, 15359. (724) 499-5181. Burial will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Twp., PA.
