Gordon Charles Scott, III., age 84, of Sycamore, passed away Thursday, August 20, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital.
Born in Pittsburgh, son of the late Gordon C. and Janet (Riddell) Scott.
Gordon graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1959. Then went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts degree from Waynesburg College in 1975. He married Janice Rae Irwin on April 23, 1966. Gordon served in the United States Army First Cavalry Division in Korea from 1962-1963, then the First Armored Division in Texas from 1963-1964. He was a member of the First Cavalry Division Association, the Disabled American Veterans, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the National Corvette Museum, along with the Covered Bridge Region of the AACA and the Three Rivers Corvette Club. Gordon was the former Director of Corporate Communications at Pitt-Des Moines Corporation and Program Administrator at Westmoreland County Community College. He enjoyed hunting and classic cars.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three children, Heather (Kenneth Fegula) Russell, Gordon C. (Ramia) Scott, IV., and Douglas (Rachel Chase) Scott; three grandchildren, Aiden Russel, Duncan and Bret Scott; two siblings, Bonnie (David) Dering and James Scott.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Scott.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC, 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. PO Box 434 Rogersville, PA 15359. Telephone: 724-499-5181, with the Reverend Barbara McMillen, officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Greene County Humane Society at 183 Jefferson Rd. Waynesburg, PA 15370.
