Gary A. Wood

Gary A. Wood, 71, of Washington Twp., Greene County, Pa. died unexpectedly on Saturday, November 8, 2025 in the UPMC Greene emergency room.

He was born December 13, 1953 in Waynesburg, Pa. a son of the late Arleigh Alfred Wood, Jr. and Dorothy Jean Hilverding Wood and had resided in Greene County all his life., where he was a member of the Washington Street United Methodist Church.

Mr. Wood was a 1971 graduate of the former Waynesburg High School.

He was employed by Fox Ford, in Waynesburg, Pa., for approximately 18 years, prior to being employed by Penn D.O.T. as an operator for several years before retiring in 2016 due to ill health.

Mr. Wood enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and camping.

Surviving are his wife, Sandra Jean Guthrie, whom he married February 27, 1988; three daughters, Katie Wood of Sarasota, Fla., Ashley Wood (Evan Bair) of Canonsburg, Pa. and Mary Beth Wood (Nick DePalma) of Washington, Pa.; two grandchildren, Colton and Camden Ramirez.

Deceased in addition to his parents is a sister, Karen Keller.

He is the last of his immediate family.

At the request of the family there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life, on January 17, 2026, from 12 noon until 3:00 pm in the Waynesburg Moose Lodge. Arrangements are under the direction of Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC.
