Francis Roosevelt Phillips

Francis Roosevelt Phillips, age 84, of Waynesburg, PA, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 16, 2016 while under the care of Rolling Meadows Nursing & Rehabilitation, Waynesburg PA.

Born November 7, 1932, in Center Twp., PA, he is the son of the late Edison Huffman and Claudia (Kent) Philllips.

Francis graduated from Center Township High School in 1951. He served his country and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Francis was a resident of Waynesburg since 1962 and previously resided in Oak Forest for 18 years. He was a member and past deacon of the First Christian Church in Waynesburg. Francis was also a former member of the Waynesburg V.F.W., Fraternal Order of Eagles, Elks Lodge and Waynesburg Lions Club. He was a member of the West Greene Lions Club. He served as past District 14-M Governor, past President and Regional Chairman in the Lions Club. Francis was self-employed as a general contractor owning Phillips Home Improvement, serving Washington and Greene counties for over 35 years.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Betty Lou (Myers) Phillips; his two children, William J. (Sue) Phillips, of Waynesburg, PA, and Gary Francis (Debbie) Phillips, of New Kensington, PA; four grandchildren, Jonathan F. Phillips, Gerard Allan Phillips, Nathan Phillips and Kelsey Phillips; two great-grandchildren, Destiny and Keyerah Phillips.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Conrad Kent Phillips, Harry J. Phillips and Joseph Dorwin Phillips; one sister, Mary Martha Jacobs.

Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 20, 2016 from 4-8 P.M. at the Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA 15359. (724) 499-5181 A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Rosemont Cemetery, Center Twp.
