Elaine Gladys Dougherty

Elaine Gladys Dougherty, age 89, of West Alexander, passed away, Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Southmont Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington.

Born May 9, 1933, in Marshall County, WV., the daughter of the late Carl Walter and Mary Catherine (Roberts) Hanlin.

She had been a resident of West Finley Twp., since 1950. Elaine was a member of West Alexander United Methodist Church, where she was part of the former choir. She married Albert “Andy” L. Dougherty on June 24, 1950, and they were happily married for 54 years until his passing on January 29, 2005. Elaine was a former member of the West Finley 4-H Club and held the position of a 4-H Advisor. She was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Wheeling #344 and Elm Grove, WV., Washington Moose Post #318. Elaine enjoyed cooking, baking, public service, and hunting.

She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Thomas) Williams, of West Alexander; two grandchildren, Thomas Lee “T.L.” (Ida) Williams, of Burgettstown and Timothy James “T.J.” (Valerie) Williams, of Schwenksville; four great-grandchildren, Ella, Adina, Katie and Jaidan Williams; two siblings, Wendell (Lou) Hanlin, of Elm Grove, WV and Marjorie (Loring) Dague, of Bowie, MD.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Annette Dougherty.

Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, from 11- 1 PM in West Alexander United Methodist Church, 58 N. Liberty Rd. West Alexander, PA 15376, where a funeral service will be held directly after with Pastor Jake Judy, officiating. Burial will follow at West Alexander Cemetery.
