Dorothy Plants Stewart, of Cincinnati, Ohio, formerly of Claysville, Pa. was welcomed into Jesus’s arms on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at 6:45pm in the Bridgeway Pointe Assisted Living Center, in Cincinnati, Ohio.
She was born September 11, 1927 in Claysville, Pa. a daughter of the late Clyde S. Plants, Sr. and Grace Allum Plants and had resided in the Claysville area all her life prior to moving to Ohio in 2013.
Mrs. Stewart was a 53year member of the Claysville United Presbyterian Church and a 1945 graduate of the former Claysville High School.
She was also a 55year member of the Claysville American Legion Auxiliary and a member of the Washington County Chapter of the D.A.R.
Mrs. Stewart was gifted with many talents, her love of art was evidenced in her oil paintings, china painting, rug hooking, needle work and her favorite passion of egg artistry.
She was also an avid baker, always inviting her family and friends to enjoy her pies, cakes, cookies and chocolates.
Mrs. Stewart was loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, who was very proud of her family, always there to lend a helping hand and loving hugs.
On April 15, 1947 she married the love of her life, William Andrew Stewart, and they were married for 54 years prior to his death, October 12, 2001.
Surviving are a daughter, Kathryn (Richard) Miller, of Milford, Ohio; two grandchildren, “Granny” to Amy (Brian) Dehan and Stephen (Dana) Miller; five great grandchildren, Audrey Louise and Caitlyn Grace Dehan, Layne Andrew, Everett James and Mabrey Larue Miller; a sister-in-law, Shirley Clutter Plants, of Claysville; several nieces and nephews.
Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are, three brothers, Clyde S. (Bud) Plants, Jr. who was killed in action during World War II, Donald E. and Kenneth W. Plants; a sister-in-law, Louise Plants; a niece, Donna Plants Parsley; a nephew, Todd K. Plants.
Friends and family will be received on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 from 11:00 am until time of services at 1:00 pm in the Claysville United Presbyterian Church, with Rev. Jerome Creech officiating. Interment will follow in the Claysville Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Claysville United Presbyterian Church or the Alzheimer’s Foundation, PO Box 96011, Washington DC, 20098-6011.
