Dorothy Hughes Durbin

Dorothy Aldeen Hughes Durbin, 92, of West Alexander, Pa. died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in the TownView Health and Rehabilitation Center, Canonsburg, Pa. She was born November 5, 1921 in Aleppo Twp., Greene Co., Pa., a daughter of the late Albert Charles and Ollie Celeste Weimer Hughes and had resided in the Aleppo, Pa. and Fairmont W.Va. areas prior to moving to West Alexander, Pa. in 1947. Mrs. Durbin was a member and former Sunday school teacher at the West Alexander United Methodist Church. She was a 1939 graduate of the former Aleppo High School. Mrs. Durbin was a member of the West Alexander American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years. She enjoyed fishing, camping, and spending time with her family. On July 21, 1945 she married Halcie Dwight Durbin, Sr. who died March 11, 2014. Surviving are a daughter, Judith, wife of Bruce Kimble of Claysville, Pa.; three sons, Ray, husband of Cheryl Durbin of West Alexander, Halcie D. Durbin, Jr., husband of Debbie Durbin of Wellsburg, W.Va., and John Butch, husband of Cathy Durbin of West Alexander; eleven grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren; a sister, Mabel Miller of Rogersville, Pa. Deceased in addition to her parents and husband are five sisters, Alma Riggs, Evelyn Throckmorton, Mary Jane and Mary Lou Hughes, and Hazel Stockdale; two brothers, James A. Hughes and Harold W. Hughes, Sr. Friends will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the West Alexander United Methodist Church, West Alexander, Pa., where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, September 22, 2014 with Rev. Daniel P. Grimes officiating. Interment will follow in the West Alexander Cemetery.
