Donald L. Karvan, age 81, of Graysville, PA, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at The Washington Hospital, Washington, PA.
Born January 13, 1936, in Nineveh, PA, he was the only child of the late Mitchell and Dorothy (Beabout) Karvan.
Mr. Karvan enlisted in the U.S. Navy upon his graduation from Waynesburg High School in 1954. He was discharged in 1962 after serving four years earning the rank of AK3. A former member of the Waynesburg V.F.W. Post # 4793, Mr. Karvan was a sportsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing as well as watching and feeding deer and wild turkeys. He enjoyed golfing and was a member of the United States Navy Baseball Club. In addition, he was a member of the Elks Lodge #776 in Washington, PA and a hobbyist woodworker who could often be seen riding his tractor.
Mr. Karvan retired in 1998 after 21 years of service in Maintenance at Greene County Memorial Hospital. Having lived in Greene County most of his life, he married Patricia (Stasuk) Karvan in 1956. Together they had four children, Elizabeth (Randy) Bristor, of Rutan, PA., Pamala (Joseph) Tuscano of Washington, PA., David and Fiance’ (Kim) Karvan, of St. Clairsville, OH., and Daniel (Renee) Karvan, of Nineveh, PA.; five grandchildren, Lauren Chambers, Meghan Tuscano, Katina Karvan, Jordan Karvan and Taylor Karvan; two great-grandchildren Cassidy and Cooper Chambers.
Friends will be received on Friday, November 3, 2017, from 2 – 7 P.M. at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC., 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy, Rogersville, PA., 15359 Telephone: 724-499-5181. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, November 4, 2017, at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jim Jarvis, officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow at Prosperity Cemetery, Prosperity, PA.
