Donald J. Varner

Donald J. Varner, age 88, of Aleppo Twp., passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at home with his family by his side.

Born September 5, 1927, in Morrisville, WV, he is the son of the late John Webster and Leona Belle (Tennant) Varner.

Donald resided in Aleppo Township since 1946. He was a long time member of the Macedonia Interdenominational Church in Holbrook. He served his country in the United States Army from 1950-1952 during the Korean Conflict and was a member of Local 123 Disabled American Veterans in Waynesburg. Donald was employed by Louis-Marks Toy Co. in Glendale, WV. where he worked in the shipping department for 24 years. He enjoyed pony pulling and would travel for competitions.

Loving Husband of 61 years to Ruth (Tedrow) Varner; Father of Candy (Leslie) Dulaney and Charles Wayne Varner; Grandfather of Nicholas (Nicole) Dulaney, Jason (Tammy) Dulaney and Haley Ross; Great-Grandfather of Mathew and Bentley Dulaney; Brother of Betty Morris and Emma Thomas; Uncle to several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son Donald Marcus Varner; Great-Grandchild, Mackenzie Dulaney; Sisters, Lillian Pauline Funk, A. Blanche Liming, Gladys A. Moore, Mary Price, Marian Maxine Norris, Fannie Copeland, Ola Willard and Nellie Isner; Brothers, Marvin Varner, J. Merle Varner, Robert Varner and George Varner.

A Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, June 16, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Centennial Cemetery, Aleppo Twp., with Rev. Kenneth Curfman, officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Highway, Rogersville, PA 15359. (724) 499-5181.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Macedonia Interdenominational Church, 598 Macedonia Road, Holbrook, PA 15341 or to a charity of choice in Donald’s memory.
