Dennis E. McCollum, 83, of Waynesburg, and formerly of Holbrook, Pa. died unexpectedly at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, February 22, 2014 in The Washington Hospital, from injuries received in a fall one month ago. He was born May 28, 1930 in Nineveh, (Morris Twp.), Pa. a son of the late J. Hallie and Wilma Hoge McCollum, and had resided in the Holbrook area from 1960 until moving to Waynesburg in 2007. Mr. McCollum was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Waynesburg where he formerly served as the head usher for over 20 years, and enjoyed listening to gospel music. He was a member and President of the Bethany Cemetery Board of Directors. Mr. McCollum was last employed as a foreman/superintendent for Pace Pipeline of Delmont, Pa. and was with the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 66 for over 50 years, prior to retiring in 1992. He was also a self-employed farmer, raising milk cows, sheep and beef cattle most of his adult life and as long as his health permitted. On November 13, 1948 he married Joy Stockdale who died December 20, 2006. Surviving are a son, Phillip, husband of Myleen McCollum of Sycamore; two daughters, Marilyn, wife of James Facemire and Ruth Ann McCollum, both of Waynesburg; four grandchildren, Seann P. McCollum of Center Twp., Michael D., husband of Carie Facemire of Sunbury, MA., Carrie J. Sommers of Jefferson, Ga., Anna B. Pryce of Las Vegas, Nev.; five great grandchildren, Julia and Hannah McCollum, Jack and Max Facemire, Cassie Sommers; two sisters, Imogene Riggle of Genesee, Pa. and Jaunietta Denman of Washington; a god-daughter, Sue, wife of Richard Ely of Sycamore; several nieces and nephews. Deceased in addition to his parents and his wife are two brothers, Clifford and J. Hallie ?Junior? McCollum, Jr.; and infant sister, Clara Jane McCollum. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either, the First Church of the Nazarene, 115 Deerfield Lane, Waynesburg, Pa. 15370 or Servant Song Ministries, 720 E. Green St., Waynesburg, Pa. 15370.
