David Coffman

David Coffman, 79, died and went to his Lord, February 13, 2015, in the Donnell House, Washington, with loving family by his side. Mr. Coffman was born February 3, 1936, in German Township, Fayette County, Pa., a son of the late Roderick and Myrtle King Coffman and was a 1954 graduate of Mapletown High School, he spent most of his life in the Waynesburg area.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served as a Sergeant with the U.S. Marine Corps and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.

Mr. Coffman worked as a truck driver for the former Overnite Transportation, now UPS Freight, for 15 years until the year 2000. He was formerly employed as a foreman for U.S. Steel at Maple Creek Mine.
He found great joy in sharing his passion for the outdoors with his loved ones. He enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, riding motorcycles, driving big trucks, hosting family gatherings at Big Bear Lake Campground, and joking with his brothers during a good card game. He taught his grandchildren to admire the colors of a beautiful rainbow trout and walk soundlessly through the woods so as not to disturb the deer.

Mr. Coffmans beloved wife of 56 years, Lovie, survives. He was also the cherished father of five children, Denise Birch of Washington, Cheryl Dukate of Rogersville, Eleanor Smith of Nemacolin, Lois Kay Roupe of Rogersville, and Owen Coffman of Graysville; beloved Pap Pap of seven grandchildren, Elise (Birch) Sipe, Chelsey (Coffman) Holloway, Amy (Smith) Campbell, Dylan Roupe, and Shawnee, Jeremy, and Joshua Coffman; and proud grandfather of eight great-grandchildren. Deceased are his parents, Roderick and Myrtle King Coffman; sister, Daisy Jones; and eight of nine brothers, Harry, Russell, Melvin, James, Charles, William, Roger, and Henry. His brother Lawrence Coffman of Chandler, Arizona survives. Friends will be received Monday, February 16, from 7 to 9 p.m.; and Tuesday, February 17, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc. Rogersville, Pa. where funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 18, at 1 p.m. with the Reverend Frank Nemeth officiating. Interment will follow in the Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan twp. Graveside military rites will be accorded by representatives of the U.S. Marine Corps and the Waynesburg American Legion Post 330.
