Clara Powers

Clara Olive Powers, 92, formerly of the New Freeport area (Deep Valley), Greene Co., Pa. died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, February 24, 2007 in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa. She was born December 1, 1914 in Wheeling, West Virginia a daughter of George Edward and Martie Olive Jones Hill and had resided in Cameron, W.Va. prior to moving to Deep Valley where she resided for over 30 years. Mrs. Powers enjoyed growing flowers, collecting owls and crocheting.On June 21, 1930, she married Allen Perry Powers who died on May 21, 1960.Surviving are a daughter, Janet, wife of Ronald Prendergast of Beloit, Ohio; nine grandchildren, thirteen great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren.Deceased in addition to her husband are one son, Frank Powers, who died in 1996; one granddaughter, Cindy Prendergast; two brothers, Edward and Arch Hill; three sisters, Stella Dunn, Lillian Downey and Nellie Lemasters.She was the last of her immediate family.
