Charles Mitchell

C. Robert "Bob" Mitchell, 69, of Nineveh, Pa. died unexpectedly at 6:18 p.m. Sunday, November 18, 2007 in The Washington Hospital, Washington, Pa. He was born January 9, 1938 in Waynesburg, Pa. a son of the late Cecil and Mabel Crayne Mitchell and had resided in Ohio for 30 years prior to returning to Waynesburg in 1991 and moving to Nineveh in 2001. Mr. Mitchell was a 1958 graduate of Waynesburg High School. He was a peacetime veteran of the U.S. Army where he served in the U.S. Army as a SP4 with Co. "C" 83rd Engr Bn APO 258. Mr. Mitchell was last employed in the plant maintenance department with Ford Motor Company in the Loraine and Avon Lake, Ohio plants for 30 years prior to retiring in 1991. He was a member of the American Legion Post #330 and the Moose Lodge #461, both in Waynesburg, Pa. He was a member of the U.A.W., Local #2000 in Avon Lake, Ohio. Mr. Mitchell enjoyed working with electronics, watching TV and sports especially the Steelers, woodworking and auto repair. He also enjoyed deer and groundhog hunting as long as his health permitted. On May 22, 1965, he married C. Joyce Church Mitchell who survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Vicki, wife of Russell Yates of Berlin Heights, Oh.; two grandsons, Nicholas and Mason Yates; two sisters, Mary Lou Grim of Wind Ridge, Pa. and Cindy Varner of Waynesburg, Pa. Deceased are one son, Kevin Mitchell who died in infancy; two sisters, Margaret Filby and Lena Johnson; and one brother, Samuel Mitchell. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in the Rush Funeral Home, Inc., Rogersville, Pa. where services will be held at 11:00 a.m Wednesday, November 21, 2007 with Rev. Harry Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Twp., Greene Co., Pa. The family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association. Graveside military rites will be accorded by representatives of the U.S. Army and the American Legion Post 330, V.F.W. Post 4793 and the D.A.V. Post 123 all of Waynesburg.
