Charles D. Hamilton, 70, of Wind Ridge, Pa. died Wednesday, December 15, 2010 in the Cameron Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cameron, W.Va. after being in failing health for the past three years.He was born October 4, 1940 in New Albany, IN. a son of the late Arlesta and Alice Dailey Hamilton.Mr. Hamilton had resided in Louisville, Ky., prior to moving to Wind Ridge in 1978.He was a 1958 graduate of New Albany High School and was a veteran of the U.S. Army where he served as a Specialist fourth Class during the Viet Nam War.Mr. Hamilton was a member of the Cameron Legion Post 18 and had served on the Jacktown Fair Board for several years.He was a former employee of General Electric in Louisville prior to being employed as a sandblaster with Kurtz Monument Sales in Washington, Pa. for 22 years prior to retiring in 2001.Mr. Hamilton was married to Sherry Rosalie Hughes who died September 1, 1985 and on January 3l, 1987 he married Edis Irene Cunningham Cumpston who survives.Also surviving is a son, Gregory Lynn Hamilton of Pennsboro, W.Va.; three step daughters, Tammy Gregory of Proctor, W.Va., Pamela, wife of Tim Rushman of Bellaire, Ohio and Crystal, wife of Corey Bohrer of Moundsville, W.Va.; three brothers, Donald Hamilton of New Albany, Robert, husband of Janet Hamilton, and James, husband of Patricia Hamilton all of New Albany, IN.; four sisters, Mildred, wife of James Schellenberger of Lanesville, IN., Martha Russ of Louisville, Ky., Theresa, wife of Alan Glascow of New Albany, IN., and Dorothy, wife of Thomas Tidmore of South Carolina; twelve grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.Deceased in addition to his parents and first wife are two sisters, Barbara Hutchins and Mary Agnes Kirchgessner.The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the charity of your choice.
