Calvin “Whitey” “Mac” Arden Dillie, age 91, a lifelong resident of Claysville, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2017 after a struggle with pneumonia. He has joined his beloved wife Marie, who passed away in October, 2016.
On May 12, 1925, Calvin was born in West Finley, son of Albert Elsworth and Minnie (Elder) Dillie.
Calvin was the last surviving of 17 siblings; Ida Mae, Ethel Neoma, Gaylord (Slim), Velma Magers (Dutch), Raymond (Jason), Helen Sprowls, Cletus (Pete), Herbert Burdette, (died at age 7) Zelda Jolley, Ronald, Mildred Long, Bill Long, Mabel Long, Harold Long, Edgar (Jack) Long, Edwin (Johnny) Long, and many nieces and nephews.
On February 20, 1950, Calvin was married to Marie Wilda (Dreamer) Dillie. The couple spent 66 wonderful years together.
Calvin had two sons, Dennis Ray (Lafayette, CO) and Douglas Aaron (Pam)(Pittsburgh, PA); granddaughter, Kristen Nicole (Chad) Beall (Highlands Ranch, CO); grandsons, Brenton Douglas (Amy)(Richmond, VA), Aaron David (Golden, CO), and Scott Dennis (Falls Church, VA). Calvin’s greatest joy in life was his children and grandchildren. He also loved his church and enjoyed gardening. Calvin was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law. His sense of humor will be missed by his family and friends.
Calvin was a member of the Claysville Christian Church where he was an elder and Sunday school teacher. Calvin was a member of the Masonic Lodge # 447 and also a member of West Finley Friendship Club. He had a long career in the gas pipeline industry retiring as the Vice President of Operations for Hahn Contracting Co., Birdsboro, PA.
Friends will be received from 12-3 PM and 6-8 PM on Sunday, April 9, 2017, at the Masonic Lodge #447, 305 Main St. Rear Entrance, Claysville, PA. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM at Claysville Christian Church, 128 Church Street Claysville, PA 15323, on Monday, April 10, 2017 with the Rev. Meade Lacock, officiating. Interment will follow in the Claysville Cemetery.
