Bobby Duane Atkinson, age 88, of Wind Ridge, PA., passed away on October 24, 2016 while under the care of Washington Health System Greene, Waynesburg, PA.
Born June 1, 1928 in Dallas, West Virginia, he is the son of the late Alda Atkinson.
Bobby was a student of Cameron High School and graduated in the class of 1948. Bobby served as a PFC in the US Army during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was a hard and dedicated worker. Early in his career he worked for Preston Oil Company. Following he was employed as a sawyer at a Saw Mill in Jefferson, PA.
He then drove truck for Overnight Transportation Trucking Company where he worked until his retirement in 1993. After retirement, he spent time with friends. He will be missed greatly by family and friends
He is survived by two children Rickey (Maria) Atkinson of West Finley, PA., and Ronnie Atkinson of Waynesburg, PA; One brother, Joseph (Janice) Atkinson, of Bladensburg, OH; Seven grandchildren, Kayla Atkinson, Rickey Atkinson, Jesse Atkinson, Robert Parson, Nancy Parson, Eric Huston, and Jacob Huston. One great granddaughter Abigail Pearson.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his loving wife Donnis Jean Atkinson who passed away on November 3, 2003 and a son Donald Atkinson who passed at infancy.
Friends will be received on Thursday, October 27, 2016 from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy., Rogersville, PA, 15359. (724) 499-5181. A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Cynthia Deter, officiating. Interment will follow at Rosemont Cemetery.
