Beatrice M. Shaler, 88, of Ballwin, MO., and formerly of West Alexander, Pa. died at 1:45 a.m. Monday, September 29, 2014 in the Delmar Gardens Nursing Home in Town Country, MO., after being in failing health for the past 13 years. She was born April 28, 1926 in Akron, Ohio a daughter of the late Jesse and Inez Miller Appleman and had lived in the West Alexander and Washington, Pa. areas for several years prior to moving to Missouri in 2006. Mrs. Shaler was a former member of the West Alexander U.P. Church, and was a member of the West Alexander American Legion Post 656 Auxiliary. She was a 1944 graduate of the former West Alexander High School. Mrs. Shaler was formerly married to the late Charles A. Shaler who died July 7, 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Wingler of Ballwin, MO., and a son, Charles (Sam) Shaler of Chesterfield, MO.; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; a sister, Patricia, wife of Clarence Carr of Akron, Ohio; several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m., the time of services, Friday, October 3, 2014 in the West Alexander United Presbyterian Church, West Alexander, Pa. with Rev. Keith Hornung officiating. Interment will follow in the West Alexander Cemetery. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either, St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital, West Alexander U.P. Church,your local Hospice or the Alzheimer's Foundation.
