Arthur W. Scott, 88, of Waynesburg and formerly of Rogersville, died at 3:10 a.m. Wednesday, May 2, 2007 in Rolling Meadows Nursing Home, Waynesburg, Pa. Mr. Scott had suffered a stroke in January 2005 and had been in general good health but his death was unexpected.He was born March 7, 1919 in Center Twp., Greene County, Pa. a son of Lloyd Iams and Grace Webster Scott and had resided in Center Twp. all of his life prior to moving to Waynesburg in 2003.Mr. Scott was 1938 graduate of Center Twp. High School and was member of the Rogersville United Methodist Church where he had previously served as a trustee for several years.He was a charter member and had served as Fire Chief of the Center Twp. Volunteer Fire Department from 1973 until 1976, was a member of the Graysville Knights of Pythias for over 50 years, and was a former member and Past President of the West Greene Area Lions Club.Mr. Scott enjoyed all types of sports, golfing and hunting as long as his health permitted.He was employed by his late Uncle Allen Scott from 1940 to 1959 and was last employed as a carpenter by Wayne Lumber Company in Waynesburg for 25 years prior to retiring in 1984.On June 20, 1940, he married Mildred Orndoff "Mid" Scott who died September 2, 2004.Surviving are his son, Larry, husband of Jean Walker Scott and a daughter, Lana, wife of Danny Taylor, all of Waynesburg, Pa.; three grandsons, Robb E., husband of Melissa Miller Crouse, Ryan A., husband of Denese Keller Crouse, and Jerrold M. Scott; four great grandchildren, Austin, Emma, Jaden and Logan Crouse.Deceased in addition to his wife are, a son, Gerald William Scott who died in infancy and a brother Harold Scott.He was the last of his immediate family.
