Anthony K. “Tony” Wilhelm, age 87, of West Alexander, PA, passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 in his home and surrounded by his family.

Born February 20, 1929, in Wheeling, WV. he is the son of the late Anthony and Mabel Wilhelm.
He attended St. Michael’s School and Wheeling Central Catholic. In 1945, Anthony moved to his farm in West Alexander, PA. He was a member the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Claysville, PA, for 70 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Korea as a Heavy Equipment Operator for the Army Corp Engineers. Tony was proud of his family farm and felt blessed to spend a lifetime growing crops, milking cows, and operating farm machinery next to his three sons. He was well known throughout the community for growing outstanding crops and his appreciation for the land was such that he lived by the following saying, “Live like you are going to die tomorrow and farm like you are going to farm forever.” Tony never knew a stranger and never made an enemy. He was a generous, loving man and was known as an outstanding businessman in the community.

He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy D. (Klages) Wilhelm of West Alexander, the two were wed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in 1955 and enjoyed 61 happy years together; six children, three sons, Anthony Joseph, John and Tom of West Alexander, three daughters, Deloris Coyle of Washington, Peggy(Rich) Krehel of Washington and Jeannie(Jim) Zerla of West Alexander; ten grandchildren, Todd Coyle, Tami Coyle Wood, Justin Krehel, Courtney Krehel, Hilary Wilhelm, Heather Williams, Lisa Sonk, Lara Wilhelm, Nancy Zerla and Noah Zerla; two great grandchildren, Genevieve and Roman Wood; three sisters, Mabel Curtis of Wheeling, WV, Arielle Balak of Rochester, MN, Donna Strawn of Charleston, WV; one brother, Father H. Joseph Wilhelm, SM. of Wheeling, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Patricia Johnston and a brother, Adrian Wilhelm.

Friends will be received from 12-8 P.M. on Thursday, September 29, 2016, at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church Social Hall, 300 Main St. Claysville, PA. 15323. (724) 663-7675.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 30, 2016, at 11:00 A.M. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father H. Joseph Wilhelm, SM., officiating. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery, Claysville, PA. Arrangements have been entrusted to Kesterson-Rush Funeral Home, LLC. 3275 W. Roy Furman Hwy. Rogersville, PA 15359.
